Delicious Macaroni and Cheese + Veggies
Macaroni and Cheese is a fan favorite here. But I love my veggies too! Today, I present the beloved Mac n’ Cheese with a little twist.
This is also a good trick to sneak in some vegetables to your kids. 😊
Ingredients
Pasta Prep
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour (or semolina)
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2–4 tbs water
Mac n’ Cheese Prep
- Cooked pasta
- 3 tbs butter
- 3 tbs all purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 tsp salt for the sauce
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 yellow onion
- 1 tbs olive oil
- 1/4 tsp salt for the veggies
Instructions
1. Mix the flour, egg, and salt. Add water until the dough acquires a sticky texture
2. Wrap the dough in plastic and then refrigerate for 2 hours
3. Form small balls and flatten them until they form a thin disc
4. Roll the dough around a wooden dowel or chopstick into a 1-inch tube
5. Make the pasta into the shape of the elbow pasta and place it on parchment paper to dry
6. Put the pasta in boiled water (The pasta should float)
7. To prepare the cheese sauce, mix melted butter with flour. Add a little milk until it acquires a smooth texture, and change it to low heat
8. Mix the grated cheese, salt, and pepper and add it to the sauce
9. Add sour cream to the sauce
10. When the pasta is ready, add the cheese sauce
11. To prepare the vegetables, preheat the oven to 400 degrees
12. Place the vegetables on a baking sheet and toss them with olive oil and salt
13. Bake onions until translucent and broccoli begins to crisp on top
14. In a pan, mix the pasta and the vegetables with the cheese sauce
15. Serve this delicious macaroni and cheese. and share them with your family
