Anya von Bremzen is the author of this book. She hails from Moscow and migrated to the West in the mid-70s. She is a food writer and a food consultant. This book came into its final shape after three years of extensive work by Ms. Anya and John Welchman, who extensively traveled through the former USSR, met different chefs, visited markets, and sampled and collected many dishes. John C. Welchman is Professor of Modern Art History in the Visual Arts Department at the University of California San Diego.
